Teachers Day Celebrations at Sri Rakum School For The Blind And The Sighted Unprivileged
The program was meticulously designed not only to honour the teachers but also to contribute to their awareness regarding oral health, a vital yet often overlooked component of general health. Our postgraduate students and faculty initiated the session with an engaging oral hygiene awareness talk, wherein practical and preventive strategies were shared in a simplified and relatable manner. This was followed by a comprehensive dental screening for the teachers, ensuring that their own oral health needs were addressed.
To further enrich the event, a survey
was conducted, focusing on the awareness of dental problems commonly faced by
children with visual impairments. The findings will serve as an important
baseline to develop future targeted programs that bridge the gap between
knowledge and implementation.
Adding a spark of joy and
interaction, the team organized quiz sessions and games,
crafted to reinforce key oral hygiene practices in a lively and memorable way.
The teachers participated enthusiastically, transforming the learning
experience into an enjoyable and empowering activity.
The celebration concluded with a
solemn and proud moment ---- honouring a teacher whose contribution to
the holistic development of the children has been exemplary. All the
teachers were appreciated and applauded for their unwavering commitment,
patience, and dedication to these children who rely on them not only for
education but also for inspiration and strength.
Through this initiative, the
Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry, BIDS, reaffirmed its
commitment to community service and health education, while paying homage to
the true nation builders ---- our teachers. The program was not merely a
celebration but a confluence of gratitude, service and empowerment, leaving
behind a lasting impression of shared purpose.
