INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA 2026
The
International Day of Yoga 2026 was celebrated with great enthusiasm on 21st
June 2026 under the guidance and directions of Rajiv Gandhi University of
Health Sciences (RGUHS), Karnataka.
As
part of the observance, a Yoga Camp was organized from 12th June 2026 to 21st
June 2026 at the Bangalore Institute of Dental Sciences (BIDS), Bengaluru.
RGUHS deputed two qualified yoga instructors from MVM College of Naturopathy
and Yogic Sciences to conduct the sessions. The programme was carried out
strictly in accordance with the Common Yoga Protocol prescribed by the Ministry
of AYUSH and RGUHS.
Prior
to the commencement of the programme, students and staff members were informed
and encouraged to participate actively. The response was overwhelming, with a (50
participants ) large number of students, teaching faculty, enthusiastically
attending the daily sessions throughout the ten-day camp.
The
activities included:
1. Practice of the Common Yoga
Protocol.
2. Breathing exercises and
pranayama sessions.
3. Meditation and relaxation
techniques.
4. Awareness programmes on the
benefits of yoga for physical and mental well-being.
5. Demonstrations of advanced yoga
postures by students.
6. Group yoga formations and
performances showcasing teamwork, discipline, and creativity.
The
sessions were conducted in the institution auditorium, which provided a
spacious, comfortable, and accessible environment for all participants. The
photographs taken during the programme reflected the active involvement and
dedication of the participants in promoting a healthy lifestyle through yoga.
The
Valedictory Function was held on 21st June 2026. Dr. Vinaya S. Pai, Principal,
Bangalore Institute of Dental Sciences, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest
and inaugurated the concluding ceremony. In his address, he appreciated the
commendable efforts of the yoga instructors, students, faculty members, and
staff for their wholehearted participation and commitment to fostering the
values of health, harmony, and holistic well-being.
Special
appreciation was extended to the instructors deputed by MVM College of
Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences for their guidance and dedicated service during
the camp.
The
celebration successfully reinforced the significance of yoga as a means to
attain physical fitness, mental peace, emotional balance, and social harmony.
The programme inspired participants to adopt yoga as a regular practice and
contributed meaningfully to the spirit of the International Day of Yoga 2026.
"Yoga
for Harmony and Peace" remained the central message of the celebration,
emphasizing the role of yoga in creating healthier individuals and a more
harmonious society.
