The RGUHS-JeevaRaksha Basic Emergency Care &
Life Support Programme aimed to equip participants with essential knowledge and
practical skills to handle common emergencies and provide basic life support. The
programme followed a structured schedule, encompassing both theoretical and
practical sessions.
The theoretical component covered critical topics
such as Common Emergencies, Scene Safety & Primary
Assessments, Cardiac Arrest, cardiopulmonary resuscitation
(CPR), Automated external defibrillator (AED), Choking.
Practical sessions were integrated throughout the
day to reinforce theoretical learning and provide hands-on experience. These
sessions included:
Tourniquet Application: Participants practiced the
correct application of tourniquets to control severe bleeding.
Choking Management: Participants simulated and
practiced techniques to assist choking victims.
CPR and AED Usage: Participants engaged in extensive
practical sessions, practicing CPR on mannequins and utilizing training AED
devices.
A demonstration of a cardiac arrest scenario was
conducted to provide participants with a realistic context for applying their
newly acquired skills. The programme concluded with a comprehensive theoretical
and practical examination to evaluate participants' understanding.
