An
Anti-Ragging Awareness Workshop was conducted On the Anti-Ragging Day Which is
observed annually on August 12th to raise awareness among students about the
harmful effects of ragging and the measures in place to prevent it.
The
session was initiated by Dr. Chaithra, Head of Department, who welcomed the
participants and set the tone for the program. This was followed by an
informative address by Dr. Dev, who elaborated on legal consequences of
ragging.
A
short film on anti-ragging, creatively scripted and shot by first-year BDS
students, was then presented, effectively conveying the message through a
student’s perspective. Principal Dr. Vinaya S Pai addressed the gathering on
the psychological impact of ragging, highlighting the long-term effects it can
have on victims.
Subsequently,
the official UGC Anti-Ragging Documentary was screened, giving students a clear
understanding of the national regulations, complaint mechanisms, and penalties
associated with ragging.
The
event was attended by first-year BDS students, faculty members of the Public
Health Dentistry Department, and Postgraduate students, all of whom actively
engaged in the discussion.
The
workshop concluded with the administration of the Anti-Ragging Pledge,
reinforcing the commitment of the institution to maintain a safe, respectful,
and inclusive campus environment. Refreshments were served at the end of the
program.
